Non-Surgical Procedures

Conveniently located to serve Carmel and Indianapolis

Our non-surgical cosmetic procedures include:

My Plastic Surgery Group offers the following less invasive, injectable procedures in Indianapolis and Carmel. Because safety and precision are extremely important during these procedures, injectables will be administered by Dr. Sando, Dr. Aker, or our trained and licensed Medical Aesthetician or Registered Nurse.

Botox Cosmetic is a purified protein. Very low doses are administered through a few tiny injections directly into those muscles that are responsible for frown lines. Botox blocks the release of the chemical in the body that causes these muscles to contract and therefore enabling them to relax. This process makes the skin appear smoother and is available to men and women in Indianapolis and Carmel.

FACTS:

  1. There is no anesthesia required. However, our surgeon may give you a cold pack or anesthetic cream to place over the injection area a few minutes before the procedure.
  2. You may experience tenderness, swelling, bruising, redness, bleeding, pain, and infection at the sight of injection.
  3. You may notice a softening in the appearance of your frown lines within 1 to 2 days, but, more commonly, it is 5 to 7 days before there are any noticeable changes.
  4. Although they vary by individual, results have been shown to last 3-6 months.
  5. There is very little, if any, down time. This procedure can be done on your way to work or on your lunch hour.

juvederm_logoJuvederm is a hyaluronic acid injectable gel that is injected under the skin to smooth out the wrinkles and folds on your face. The results are immediate. It is used to smooth away moderate facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds).

FACTS:

  1. The results are seen immediately, and although they vary by individual, can last up to 1 year.
  2. As with all injections, you may experience discomfort. To increase your comfort, your doctor will assess your need for pain management and determine what technique is right for you.
  3. After the Juvederm injections have been delivered, the targeted regions will be massaged. Massaging ensures that the product is distributed evenly and reduces any post-treatment swelling.

Volbella logoVolbella is a Juvederm injectable used to enhance and augment the lips. The aging process can cause lips to become thin and lose definition. Volbella is an effective lip filler that restores definition. Additionally, this filler can be used to resolve perioral lip lines (also called lipstick lines or smoker’s lines).

FACTS:

  1. Volbella is a gel with a soft consistency that is often said to resemble the natural feel of the lips.
  2. The results of Juvederm Volbella last for around 1 year.

Juvederm VolumaVoluma is another specialized injectable in the Juvederm family of dermal fillers. During the aging process, the cheeks naturally lose their youthful volume due to tissue loss from the underlying facial fat layer. This gel filler is used to restore volume to gaunt, hollow cheeks.

FACTS:

  1. Due to its cross-linked nature, Juvederm Voluma’s results can last for up to 2 years. Maintenance treatments will be available.
  2. This dermal filler is injected at a deeper level in the tissues than many other injectables. Because of this, it contains lidocaine, a local anesthetic, to ensure patient comfort.

SculptraApproved by the FDA in 2004, Sculptra is an incredibly effective injectable treatment for folds, creases, deep lines, and lipoatrophy (facial fat loss). This product stimulates collagen production to gradually create subtle and natural-looking results.

FACTS:

  1. While Sculptra is sometimes referred to as a dermal filler, it is more accurately categorized as a collagen stimulator. Rather than creating immediate volume, it creates very natural volume over time.
  2. Sculptra is composed of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a substance that encourages natural collagen production.
  3. The results of Sculptra can last for up to 2 years.
