What is labiaplasty, and why is the procedure performed?
Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure that reshapes or reduces the labia, most commonly the labia minora. It may be performed to relieve physical discomfort, address asymmetry, or help a patient feel more comfortable with the area’s appearance.
What should I expect during labiaplasty recovery?
Temporary swelling, tenderness, bruising, and mild discomfort are common. Many patients resume routine daily activities within several days, although complete healing takes longer.
How long should I wait after labiaplasty before exercising or having sex?
Strenuous exercise, cycling, and sexual activity are usually restricted for approximately four to six weeks. Your surgeon will provide individualized guidance based on how you are healing.
Are labiaplasty results permanent, and will there be visible scarring?
The removed tissue does not grow back, so results are generally long-lasting, although aging and childbirth may cause later changes. Incisions are placed within natural folds, and scars typically become less noticeable as they heal.
